Joe was born and raised in Bayonne, NJ.  He started playing guitar when he was ten years old.  He joined his first band at age twelve.  His cousin Rich Gomez was a member of that band.  Rich went on to a stellar career as a musician performing with the 1910 Fruit Gum Company and Beatlemania.  Joe’s next stint was with a band called the Jades.  This band played and several venues and dances throughout Bayonne.  In 1966, Joe joined the Bridgemen Drum and Bugle Corps where he played bugle and marched for five years.  After graduation from Jersey City State College (New Jersey City State University), Joe was employed by the Howell Township Schools where he worked as a teacher for thirty-two years.  During this time, he played guitar mostly for local groups.  Joe was “discovered” by Frank when Joe organized a teacher band at his middle school.  Frank used Joe to fill in with his group “Sidewalk Serenade”.  John was the keyboard player and arranger for this group.  After a time, Frank, John and Joe got together to form “Rhythm and Sound” and the rest is history.  Joe is married to Sue Moscato and has two daughters; Jackie and Jody and one son; John.  He has three granddaughters; Ava, Evelyn, and Camille.  Joe lives in Howell, NJ
